PROSPECTUS 'BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT'
The School has a simple code of conduct that is accessible and understandable to all but our most complex pupils. The school has a positive approach to fostering good behaviour and operates a variety of reward systems to encourage pupils. Dependent on pupils understanding class groups will have additional guidelines for good conduct that go alongside their reward systems.
For pupils with complex needs that include challenging behaviour, first and foremost we see behaviour as communication and will work with parents and other agencies to understand and manage pupils’ behaviours in a consistent manner. This includes drawing up behaviour management plans with parents that are then put in place by all staff working with a pupil.
If, on entry to the school, a pupil is assessed as requiring physical intervention to keep them, other pupils or staff safe, for the protection of pupils all staff are trained in the ‘Approach’ method of physical intervention. Further details are available from school and we would discuss pupils’ needs with families before entry to the school.
A copy of the behaviour management policy is available from the school office on request.
